Vintage Sterling Silver Shar-Pei Dog Figurine

This adorable, sterling silver Shar-Pei dog is so detailed, you can see every fold of skin, and every hair on his amazing wrinkles. Looking much less like his ancient Chinese fighting dog ancestors, and much more like an amicable family pet, this nearly 4 1/2 inch tall treasure has a beautiful aged patina. It was made using the electro -forming method in which a polystyrene model is covered with a thick layer of sterling silver. Leaving the polystyrene inside, as was done with this piece, gives it much more stability and durability.

It is marked 925, and we believe, based on the age of its previous owner, that it dates back to the 1950’s. It makes a perfect collector’s piece, decorative item or a wonderful gift as is, with its vintage patina. However, it can also be polished up to a high brilliance by its next owner, and look stunning.
