This gorgeous pair of vintage, porcelain Borzois were made by the Volkstedt Porcelain factory of Germany between 1920 -1972, by the well-known and popular sculptor, Karl Ens.
The female Borzoi, is done primarily in shades of deep and soft grey, with bright white accents. The male Borzoi is mostly white with accents of deep brown.
They are both standing on an elongated oval, two-tiered white porcelain base.
The entire piece is 7 1/4″ tall x 8 1/2″ long x 4 1/4″ wide and it is in excellent, flawless condition.
Not only are these two dogs magnificently rendered, but they also have such personality.
With the female’s head resting across the head of the male Borzoi, combined with the expression on her face, and the expression on his…it almost looks as though she is silently communicating her love for him.
For a Borzoi enthusiast, such a wonderful study of this elegant breed is an exceptional find. It is not only beautiful, but if you take a look at these dogs’ expressions, you can not help but see the romance, as well.
