The beauty is in the detailing on this circa 1900 Austrian Cold Painted French Bulldog. Stamped “GESCHUTZT”, (PROTECTED) on his chest. The detailing on this extraordinary dog shows fur lines, two-tone eyes, “freckles” on his snout and the buckle, studs, and name plate on his collar. He is cold painted a muted grey and white over bronze with a black and brass-colored studded collar. He stands proudly at 4″ ³ high x 4.5″ ³ long x 1.5″ ³ wide and weighs 12.7 ounces.
He is truly an extraordinary example of antique cold painted bronze. He is in excellent condition for being over 100 years old with less than expected wear to the paint. He would be a stand out piece in any collection. We think he would look amazing alongside other dogs of the same period and craft, but he can certainly hold his own as a single piece on a desk, shelf or small table.
