This hand painted and superbly modeled Rosenthal Boxer dog was sculpted by Prof. Theodor Karner during the mid-1950’s. Prof. Karner (1884-1966) a Munich-born artist and sculptor, is considered by many to be the foremost animal sculptor of the 20th century. This porcelain figurine shows an adult male Boxer at his most deliberate and dignified pose. As with all of Karner’s figurines, the detailing is extraordinary, from his pointed, highly realistic ears, to his amazing musculature. He stands a full 7 1/4″ tall x 7″ long x 2 3/4″ wide, and is in excellent condition. He carries the green Rosenthal stamp with “SELB-PLOSSBERG” underneath. He would make an excellent addition to a Rosenthal canine collection. If you are a Boxer owner, this is an opportunity to acquire one of the finest renditions of this incredible breed ever achieved in porcelain.
