This wonderful adult Boxer dog was designed and produced by Mortens Studio. Seated at 6 1/2″ tall x 4 1/2″ long x 2 1/2″ wide, he has fabulous detailing, showing all his muscles and folds of skin, as well as that characteristic Boxer “look” that is a half and half mixture of worry and mirth! The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a giftware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition. This dog has two small chips that do not detract from him in any significant way. Any other specks on the photos are merely spots of light caused by the camera. If you collect Mortens Studio canines, then this is an opportunity to add a terrific example of this particular breed to your collection. Please take a moment to look at the last picture of this dog with a Boxer puppy. They do look wonderful together!
