This hand painted and superbly modeled Rosenthal Boxer puppy was sculpted by Prof.Theodor Karner during the mid-1950’s. Prof. Karner (1884-1966) a Munich-born artist and sculptor, is considered by many to be the foremost animal sculptor of the 20th century. This porcelain figurine shows a sweet, Boxer puppy seated and “pouting” in a way that only Boxer pups can. As with all of Karner’s figurines, the detailing is extraordinary, from the “floppy”, highly realistic ears, to the over-sized paws. This engaging figurine is 3″ tall x 3″ long x 3″ wide, and is in excellent condition. It carries the green Rosenthal stamp with “SELB-PLOSSBERG” underneath. This puppy would make an excellent addition to a Rosenthal canine collection. Please note that we also have the adult, male Boxer also designed by Karner, for Rosenthal, during the same time period. We show both together in the last picture. Each dog is being listed separately, and as you can see…they look amazing together and they are a wonderful reminder of the life-stages of a breed that in just a few short years goes from a playful, goofy character, to a proud and amazing athlete!
