This delicate, seated Staffordshire Spaniel dog dates back to the mid-1800’s. Made in the Staffordshire region of England, this figurine of a dog was most likely intended to represent a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, which was one of the very popular breeds at that time. At 31/2″ tall x 3 1/2″ long x 1 3/4″ wide, this dog is in excellent condition with some wear to the gilt trim along the base. While the appeal of Staffordshire figurines is in their charming folk style, depicting everyday life in the English countryside, they also add a very elegant and more formal touch to the decor of a dining room, or even a master bedroom. Place this dog next to a bowl of roses, and you are immediately drawn into the feeling of an afternoon tea at a country estate!
