Capturing the sturdy and self-assured stance that is so typically a “Westie” this fellow has a wonderful high gloss finish and stands a full 5″ tall x 5 1/2″ long x 2 1/4″ wide. He is marked Beswick England on the underside of one paw. He was designed by Arthur Gredington, who was the company’s first full time modelier. The Beswick factory was established in 1894 in Longton, Stoke on Trent, England. In 1969 Beswick was sold to Royal Doulton, and the Beswick factory was closed in 2002. This figurine was issued in 1965 and retired in 1994 during what was considered “The Golden Age” of Beswick. Westie lovers will appreciate the realism of this sweet guy, from the abundance of fur lines to deep set dark eyes, and even his toe nails!
