There is so much to look at on this wonderful silver-plated work of art! Used as a “show of status” on a well-dressed, Victorian table, napkin rings like this one were heavily detailed, and could almost tell a story. A three dimensional Pug dog is the focal point, with wonderful detailing that shows off his fur, eyes, the toenails on his paws, and, of course, his curled up tail! He is looking expectantly up, while an exquisitely detailed bowl waits empty in front of him. Both the napkin ring itself, and the base of this piece are also beautifully decorated in intricate floral patterns. The base is supported on four ball-shaped legs, and it stands 3 1/2″ tall x 2 1/2″ long x 3 3/4″ wide. Circa 1880-1900, it is a wonderful collector’s piece. Pug lovers…this would make a gorgeous decorative accent almost anywhere in your home.
