This beautiful, primitive, carved wood dog has simple lines, but shows an extraordinary use of wood. It is carved from Sono Wood, also known by a variety of other names such as East Indian Rosewood, Salabar, Biti or Kalaruk. It is obvious that this particular wood was selected by the artist because it offers both light and dark wood in the same piece. What is so wonderful is how the artist used the different wood tones to simulate the real life look of a Springer Spaniel or other similar breed. It sits 8″ tall x 3 1/2″ long x 3″ wide, and it is very heavy for its size, weighing just under 2lbs. It is a remarkable dog, that would look fabulous in almost any room in your home.
