This vintage original print by Diana Thorne, was removed from the 1936 publication of “True Dog stories” by A.P. Terhune, making it approximately 87 years old.
It is a wonderful portrait of three Scottish Terriers, all gazing in the same direction. In the book, they are looking at a man playing the bagpipes, and they certainly look like they are ready to sing along.
The title “Close Harmony”, and the artist’s signature are part of the printed page. It is covered in glass, and framed in a vintage vanilla French provincial wood frame. The print is backed with what appears to be vintage floral wallpaper.
The entire piece (including the frame) measures 8″ tall x 6″ wide, and it is in excellent, ready-to-hang condition.
Diana Thorne’s dog etchings are so admired because they capture the humor and energy of the dogs she portrays. This work of art stands beautifully alone, but it would also make an outstanding addition to a gallery grouping of similar prints in your home.
