This wonderful portrait of two Irish Setter dogs is an etching done by Paul Wood in c.1935. It is called an aquatint etching in that it has a color tint, which in this case, is the breed’s characteristic mahogany color.
The etching is pencil-signed by the artist, Paul Wood (1897 – 1964). The portrait is entitled “Setters”, which is written in pencil in the lower left corner. There is another word, also written in pencil next to it, that unfortunately, we cannot decipher. It also has “Paris Etching Society” written in the top right corner. It measures 11 1/4″ tall x 15 1/4″ wide.
The etching is in excellent condition, and it is framed under glass. The wood frame is quite old and it shows its age, having a few small nicks along the edges.
It is a wonderful work of art to add to any canine gallery. They would make the perfect addition to an Irish Setter home, or a unique and wonderful gift to any Irish Setter enthusiast.
