This vintage, bulb lamp is so unique and such fun! Originally called an Aerolux “Cheer Light”, it was made by the Aerolux company between 1930 – 1939, as a bulb only. Somewhere along the way, this one was made into a small lamp, by adding a small chrome base and an electrical cord. It is 5″ tall, with a 3″ in diameter base, and it is in excellent working condition. The base is covered in multiple pieces of cardboard, which causes the lamp to wobble a bit. It is a simple fix to simple pull off one layer of the cardboard, and it will become balanced.
As you can see from the pictures, the Scottie dogs, of which there are two, form the filament of the clear glass bulb. When plugged in, both Scotties glow a very bright reddish orange. However, no matter how many different ways we tried to take a picture of the bulb lit, each time the picture only shows one Scotty lighting up and one remaining black. We don’t know that happens with the camera, but we guarantee that both dogs do light up, each time the lamp is plugged in.
This is such a charming and unique little lamp. It would make the perfect holiday surprise gift to anyone who is a Scottish Terrier enthusiast.
