This rare, vintage, hand-carved Scottie cuff bracelet and perfectly matching dress clip are a “one-of-a-kind” find! Dress clips or fur clips, which resemble a large clip-on earring with the clip portion elongated and studded with sharp tiny spikes (for holding onto fabric or fur) were originally created by Cartier in the 1920’s and rose in popularity during the Depression as an adornment for the square neckline dresses which were introduced during that time. For several decades, every major American and European costume jewelry maker had a line of such clips and they all stopped making them by the late 1950’s.
This fabulous bracelet depicts a wonderfully detailed Scottie, resting his head on his paws. He has glass eyes and a bright green collar with tiny brass studs. The collar opens and closes perfectly and the bracelet is in excellent condition. The dress clip, also in excellent condition, is an exact match of the dog’s head and the green collar. The dress clip is 1.5″ x 2″. The bracelet is 3.25″ in diameter, and 1″ wide.
This set would make an amazing gift for any retro jewelry lover, dog lover, and most particularly a Scottie dog lover! The dress clip can be re-purposed to adorn a hand bag, a scarf, head band, belt, or a jacket lapel.
