Rare and FANTASTIC, this antique chocolate mold was created in Germany, in the F. Anton Reiche Factory in 1937. It is well-marked with the maker’s mark, (Anton Reiche Dresden), place of origin (Germany), the distributor’s identification (TOWE Candy Company New York), a “3” and a “7”, indicating the year it was manufactured (1937), and it is also numbered “29011”. Friedrich Anton Reiche was the master mold maker of his time. His molds were made of nickel-coated sheet metal called “Platinol” molds. It was the variety and diversity of his products that made them the most desirable. By 1932, he had manufactured as many as 50,000 different molds.
This twin Scottie mold is highly detailed, showing “shaggy” fur lines, as well as detailed eyes, noses and even smiles! It is a rare and wonderful antique mold for collectors, and a unique and charming decorative piece for your kitchen. It has the original clamps, and it is in good working condition. We are leaving it “as is” to maintain its antique patina. It would also shine up nicely, if that is what you would prefer to do.
