This exquisite, silverplate cigar cutter is the perfect example of Art Nouveau design, with its intricate pattern of vines and leaves, combined with the flowing fur lines of the Borzoi.
This three-dimensional, figural dog covers all four sides of this cigar cutter, as does the handle, which is made to look like wood, covered in an oak leaf vine.
The entire piece is exceptional, especially the eyes of this Borzoi, which give it such an intense and realistic look.
It has a steel blade cutting mechanism, that produces a “V-shaped” cut. There is one tiny touch of rust on the mechanism, that could easily be removed with a gentle cleaning. This does not in any way prevent the mechanism from working flawlessly (which it does.)
Measuring 1″ tall x 6″ long x 1 1/4″ wide, this antique cigar cutter is in extraordinary condition, with only very mild wear of the silverplate.
It was made in Germany and there is an incised #21 on the underside of the Borzois’ neck.
For collectors, as well as lovers of this wonderful breed, this cigar cutter is an amazing, highly collectible antique find.
