Cold-Painted Spaniel Dog
Match Striker-Ashtray-Pipe Rest
This cold painted Cocker Spaniel has so much personality! With the wonderful, gentle expression that Cockers have and eyes focused and staring, he looks like he’s carefully keeping a secret. He does, in fact have a few secrets to show us… his back opens to reveal a pipe rest and ashtray, and his head bows down to reveal a carefully hidden striker lighter.
Typically, this lighter, pipe rest, ashtray combination, can be found in the shape of a Scottish Terrier. This dog is far more unique and highly collectible.
Designed and made in Austria, c. 1930’s, he is cold-painted and made of spelter metal. He opens along his top to provide a pipe rest, ashtray and a lighter. His interior has a wonderful gold wash finish. His underside opens to provide a way to clean out the ashes.
He measures 3 1/2″ tall x 6″ long x 2 1/2″ wide. He is in excellent vintage condition with some paint loss, that only serves to add to his charm.
Although he would be a terrific addition to a vintage tobacciana collection, he also makes a really great “secret” hiding place for keys, jewelry or other special trinkets!
