Given the age of this extraordinary dog, the Italian artist, Guido Cacciapuoti, most likely fashioned him after a Scottish Terrier. However, for those of us who love Maltese as well, you can easily see how this dog could be very well be a Maltese in both appearance and personality! The detailing on this porcelain is amazing, from the soulful look in his eyes, to the wild animation and “movement” of his fur. At 5 1/2″ tall x 6 1/2″ long x 3″ wide, it is in excellent condition, and is hand signed “Cacciapouti”, and retains its original silver foil label.
Although we try not to have “favorites” here, at A Dog’s Tale, we must admit that this figurine has attracted more attention, and “passionately positive publicity” than almost any other item here. If you are a Cacciapuoti collector, don’t miss out on this one. It would make an extraordinary gift to any dog lover or collector, but we have to forewarn you that, if it is intended as a gift, once you see it, this incredibly engaging pup will be very difficult to give it away!
