We always love a mother dog with her puppies, and this wonderful porcelain figurine is no exception. Designed by Carl Scheidig and made by Reichmannsdorf, Grafenthal, East Germany, it is a beautifully modelled depiction of a patient mother Terrier dog, standing alert while her two puppies are carousing around her…one even pulling at her leg. The detailing is beautiful, and the subtle patches of deep grey and medium brown, against a snowy white background make it seem soft and tender. This piece is in excellent condition, standing 4″ tall x 5″ long x 2″ wide. Although the top portion of the makers mark (crown) is worn off the remaining mark is clearly Reichmannsdorf-Grafenthal, and dates it within the early to mid 1930’s. These pups would make a wonderful, whimsical gift for a child’s room, or as a stand alone piece on a small table or shelf almost anywhere in your home.
