This is a wonderful Royal Copenhagen Dachshund pup, peering inquisitively, into a rock pool. It was modeled by Eric Nielson in 1905 and the Royal Copenhagen backstamp on the bottom of the piece with the model number and painter’s number, dates it to pre-1934. It also has the “Eric Nielson monogram impressed into the side of the base. It is 4 1/4″ tall x 5″ long x 4 1/2” wide. It is in excellent condition with a small hairline crazing on the side of the dog that is very difficult to see, but it is there. This piece is listed on Worthpoint as having sold in 2013 for $800.00. The uniqueness of the design, combined with it’s beautiful “seaside” color palette of swirling blue, grey and sand, make this piece one that will easily attract many admiring looks. It is also a rare opportunity to own an excellent, early example of this seldom offered model at such a reasonable price!
